The Maasai Mara National Reserve
The Maasai Mara is an extraordinary game reserve in Kenya, just a 30-minute drive from Entumoto camp. Spanning over 1,510 sq km and elevated 1,400–2,200 metres above sea level, it is home to an awe-inspiring array of wildlife, including big cats, antelope, elephants, rhinos, giraffes, zebras and over 950 bird species.
The Mara is also renowned for the Maasai, who live in traditional manyattas and hold cattle ownership as a proud part of their heritage. Visitors experience the best of both worlds: the natural beauty of the reserve and the rich cultural heritage of the Maasai people.
Entumoto is the perfect base for exploring the reserve. Our knowledgeable Maasai driver guides take you on game drives where you can see lions, elephants, leopards and much more. You can also go on bush walks, visit Maasai villages and take hot air balloon rides over the reserve.
The Great Migration & wildlife
One of the most impressive natural events worldwide happens annually within the Mara — the great migration, where more than a million wildebeest and other animals move through the park and the surrounding conservancies in search of fresh pasture brought by the rain.
During the migration these plains are flooded with animals making their way from and to the Serengeti: not just wildebeest, but hundreds of thousands of Thomson's gazelle and zebra as well.
The Maasai Mara supports the highest concentration of lions in the world, along with the other members of the “Big Five” — a spectacular game viewing experience where watching a chase becomes a daily activity.

Every effort must be made to preserve this incredible wildlife sanctuary. We at Entumoto dedicate ourselves to being part of its protection, and to that end our camp functions in the most eco-friendly way possible — solar power, our own water filtration, an organic garden and environmentally friendly products throughout.
